Arie Luyendyk qualifies, at 218.263 mph, to win the pole position for the 1997 "Indianapolis 500"

If the content, of this website, is starting to look like the celebration of Arie Luyendyk's career, why not? The guy was a great race driver. Think about his racing accomplishments, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He won the "Indianapolis 500" in 1990 and 1997 . He finished second in 1993 and third in 1991. Arie holds the current official one lap (237.498), four lap (236.986) and 200 lap (185.981) records at the Speedway.
As I wrote, in another page, on this website, Luyendyk and Tony Stewart had one of their classic competitions, during "500" Pole day 1997, with Arie coming out on top. Those Arie Luyendyk - Tony Stewart days, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and in the Indy Racing League, are over now. Arie has moved from the driver's seat to the broadcast booth and Tony has gone to NASCAR, but they were fun while they lasted though.
